Pokemon Black and White are the first games to introduce version exclusive Gym Leaders. Players with Pokemon Black will face Iris as the eighth Gym Leader while Pokemon White has Shaga as its eighth Gym Leader.
In addition to the version exclusive Gym Leaders, players will also have the chance to face one of three Gym Leaders in the first gym they visit.
Who they face will be dependent on the starter Pokemon they choose:
Tsutaja: Battle against Poddo.
Mijumaru: Battle against Dento.
Pokabu: Battle against Koon.

Gym type: Grass, Fire, and Water

Really? I like the idea of the interchangeability of the gym leaders…but the idea of version exclusive gym leaders has me confused. I really like it because it’s a nice idea…but it just seems weird to me.
With every version exclusive thing that is revealed, I’m liking White more and more. This trainer…even though we really can just see his face…looks more like a final gym leader and dragon trainer. Isis…to me…doesn’t. It could just be jealousy and/or her age…but I don’t really see a child being the 8th gym leader AND a dragon trainer.
I swear, I really sort of wish that I just read “NEW POKEMON GAME!! Black and White!!” and then unplugged my computer. Why? Thank you for asking. Cause now I am stuck playing a waiting game instead of an Awesome Game!

I agree with you Naveen. Iris does not strike me as a gym leader, let alone the final gym leader in Pokemon Black and White. She is far too young to be one, but then again, so was Misty. I wonder how this will play in the anime. Will she keep the truth about her being a gym leader a secret to Ash? Or will the writers omit that part of her just for the anime? I don’t agree with some of the decisions and designs that were approved for this generation, but then again, I’m just a fan as well…

The anime’s 8th gym leader will probably be Shaga. The staff might make some sort of relationship between him and Iris, like maybe father and daughter, or the like. Misty wasn’t a gym leader during the start of the series; I think Iris isn’t, too.
Anyways, I think the 6th gym leader is hot. Can’t wait for the artwork ^_^

Isn’t it funny how Ash’s new partner in the Pokemon anime series is Iris a Dragon Gym Leader of the Pokemon game series? So how will that work out for Ash?
